NSF Grant, Rural Flood Mitigation
I got a chance to collaborate with a research team at Michigan Tech that was working on methods to mitigate flooding risks in rural communities who are notoriously under-served and vulnerable to climate change and intensified weather. The team itself was multi-disciplinary with multiple Universities as well as several local civic partners all trying to address this challenge.
I went through the team's submission documents, conducted video interviews, and shot B-roll footage all across the Keweenaw in order to produce this five minute video, a required component of their grant application. As luck would have it, they were one of the teams selected to receive $1 million in grant funding from the Civic Innovation Challenge and have now moved on to the next stage of their research.
